Lowry is from West Cork, from the lovely town of Clonakilty where she grew up. As the eldest of 5 active brothers we can safely say she has been supporting those around her in their recovery journeys for a long time! Lowry went to UCC to study Physics and Astrophysics for a year initially but quickly decided she was not destined to visit the moon and returned to her alma mater to sit the leaving Certificate again.
Lowry completed her Physiotherapy Honours degree in Royal Collage of Surgeons in Dublin in 2010 which was to be the foundation of what would go on to become MaxPhysio and Pilates.
A love of gymnastics and dance which stemmed from her years of competing as a child and the desire to find a way to help her clients achieve meaningful lifestyle change, is what led her towards Pilates which she began studying in 2011, sparking one of her biggest passions in life.
An active athlete herself competing in show jumping events all around Ireland,
placing in national competitions, playing hockey, soccer and camogie in teams gave her an understanding of how an athletes mind works. Working with Munster Rugby and Premier League team football team Northbidge, Sydney, further honed this love of sports rehabilitation and she continues to love working with athletes today.
Lowry worked in the UK for a few years followed by Australia and it was there she began to understand the impact that the Pilates equipment could have on improving the quality of
life of her clients in theirs 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Literally everyone is a candidate for Pilates in her opinion and with the tools, courses and skills she had picked from her time away she returned to Ireland to open MaxPhysio and Pilates in 2016.
Lowry loves working with clients of all ages, she particularly loves working with clients with back pain, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis as feels these diagnoses can initially be very daunting and limiting and she loves helping her clients developing strength and confidence to live, healthier, happier and stronger lives.
A mother of 3 small kids who keep her very busy when she is not at work, she also enjoys road running, reformer pilates and reading science fiction and business books, a very odd combination!
Home improvement is a reluctant addition to her skill set after a recent move into a self build house.
Lowry is also a member of the Committee of the Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice in Ireland and is hugely passionate about the possibilities the profession has in
helping to improve the quality of life of all the clients who we meet.
