Our physiotherapists have robust knowledge and experience in helping with recovery from orthopaedic surgeries. This includes but is not limited to total hip or knee replacements, rotator cuff repairs, ACL repairs, labral repairs of the hip, and meniscal repairs of the knee. Those who engage in rehabilitation post-surgery are more likely to have better outcomes in terms of pain, strength, flexibility, and function.
Physiotherapy is also beneficial in the weeks or months leading up to a surgery. Prehabilitation (exercise pre-surgery) has been shown to improve pain levels, reduce length of stay in hospital, and improve strength and function following surgery. In many cases, prehabilitation can even prolong the need for surgery for issues such as osteoarthritis and rotator cuff problems.Â
Whichever stage you’re at, our physiotherapists will have a discussion with you around your current level of function and what you hope to achieve, followed by an assessment of your movement. A treatment plan will then be established together, including suitable exercises or movement options.
Often this will be accompanied by manual treatment, such as massage and mobilisation which can help to reduce swelling and pain, and improve movement.
Packages
We are pleased to offer Rehabilitation packages following surgery to optimise recovery and return to function or for those wish to improve their balance and mobility the packages can be a great way to achieve a functional goal.
These packages typically include 40 minutes – 1 hour assessment with an additional 5 sessions over the course of 3 months.
The package will include a thorough assessment, treatment which may include manual therapy, sports massage, electrotherapy, reformer pilates, balance and gait retraining and more.
This package will cost €350 ( this reflects a 10% reduction on normal prices when purchased as a package). Those who partake in rehabilitation post-surgery are more likely to have better outcomes in terms of pain, strength, flexibility, and function.
